Bob Sellers, Author’s Bio
AN ABSENCE OF NORMAL
Bob’s novel humorously draws upon 30 years of experience as a Psychotherapist creating and using Paradoxical Processes, Imaginal Therapies and Parallel Metaphoric Psychodramas to help clients create a resolution for their personal challenges. While working at a Counseling Center in Northern California, as well as in private practice as a psychotherapist, Bob supervised and trained interns working to earn a License and gain new methods. Bob guided fictional story writing with many of his clients and interns in order to create an expansion of their self-definition that included a persona or a perception that would resolve or complete their issue and lead them to a form of creative, rapid evolution.
In his hilarious story, An Absence of Normal, Bob focuses on extraordinary, fictional characters (therapists and patients). His characters work at a fictional psychotherapy center in Folsom, California, where they are preoccupied with unique, perplexing sexual issues. You will enjoy laughing and sometimes hating the way the shrinks and their patients creatively stumble and mess with challenging, almost impossible problems. Yet things seem to work out.
Bob has enjoyed writing fictional stories throughout his adult life, stories that were material to a reality significant at the time. Many stories were published and distributed to a thousand readers while others were circulated to ten to twenty persons, or one or two persons. Bob entered a writing contest at a large (800 people) Annual Writers’ Conference in Santa Barbara and won the award for fictional humor. It was the only contested writing award that he ever entered.
Bob really enjoyed writing this funny, sexy story and would like to invite you to experience it. Donna Sellers, LMFT, Co-Artist, Creative Partner
“I have embraced many roles and identities in my life and explored many archetypes along the way, as a mother, a foster parent, a therapist, a teacher, a healer, an entrepreneur, an artist, a writer, and a lover. I have worked in the helping/ healing profession as a school psychologist, a mind-body therapist and a Marriage, Family Therapist in private practice.”
“Working as a co-creator with Bob for over the past 20 years has been a creative journey learning how to merge our knowledge of psychology with role-playing, stories, writing and the visual arts. The process of merging each of our passions and talents has made us even closer over the years.”
“I have written a blog on “working together” where I share some of our experiences to answer the question we are often asked, ‘How do you work together?'”
